They say that the secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes. And that’s what we did! When a good friend told us that shooting for MTV Coke Studio was a possibility, we just went for it! The universe conspired to make things happen and we found ourselves at the MTV studio shooting for famed music composer/producer, Hitesh Sonik and singer, Sukhwinder Singh.
We shot behind the scenes as the ensemble prepared for their live performance. It was a treat to the eyes and ears for sure! The beautiful set bathed in red lights cast a mellow glow on the musicians. The huge cameras were at work along with some 50 people managing the show in the background. We could hear the backup singers occasionally breaking into parts of the rehearsed music bits as singer, Sukhwinder Singh was giving them tips. Mr. Sonik was observing the whole scene from his spot, interjecting only when he thought something was out of place. We were in awe of how calm and down to earth he was during the entire shoot. He’s so soft spoken that we could barely even hear his voice … I guess his music speaks for itself—loud and clear!
Meraki got to learn a lot about how things work behind the scenes of a production house and how music is made. We salute the composers, vocalists and musicians of Coke Studio who are doing some amazing stuff out there. Our pictures are but a fraction of the awesomeness that we got to see and experience that day. I hope you like what we’ve captured.
