Sadabhishekam
Meraki recently did a very different shoot for a wonderful family on the occasion of a ‘Sadabhishekam’ – a celebratory function for someone who turns 80. Mr. Lalgudi Venkatraman Natarajan’s 80th birthday celebration was definitely a grand affair! In the presence of three generations, the festivities took place at a local temple. It is said that by this age, a person has seen a thousand new moons and the occasion is also called a ‘Sahastra-Chandrada-Darsha
Spread over two days, the event saw multiple rituals, vedic chants and traditional customs being played out. Fragrant flowers decorated the mandapam and one could smell fresh sandalwood and coffee in the air.
It is tradition for someone who celebrates his 80th birthday and has a spouse, to renew their wedding vows. This tradition was duly followed and it was a touching scene to see the adorable couple getting married all over again. Mr. Natarajan’s wife was blushing throughout the ceremony like a new bride while he was sporting a broad smile. If this isn’t eternal love then what is ?
As Henry Van Dyke once said, ‘time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.’
We wish the super cute couple the best of everything in life and hope that they see many, many more moons together!
